Oregon Governor Kulongoski has declared a State of Emergency and put forth House Bill 2186 utilizing the special privileges of the state of emergency to enact purposely vague mandates in an attempt to combat Global Warming and limit the carbon emissions of Oregon's driving residents.

While the outward relevance to the bill as it's being promoted is specifically regarding the use of original manufacturer's specifications of Road Tires, the vague nature and broad spectrum of interpretations and applications to the bill could affect everything from increased wheel size to custom exhaust systems, from engine performance upgrades to audio and visual enhancements.

This is more than just an attack on a particular part... it is an attack on an entire Industry, not to mention a lifestyle adopted by nearly every man, woman or teen that has ever purchased a car, truck or SUV. People even "hop-up" their Hy-brids!

I warned all of you about the Power that Global Warming would give leftist politicians and alarmist citizens and here we are beginning to see just how something as simple and natural as cyclical climate change can bring about Socialist Governmental change.

Thinking of the recent Big 3 Auto Maker taxpayer paid bail-outs, these guys had to agree to certain provisions requiring them to increase spending on the research and development of "green" vehicles to combat Global Warming. The Green conditions were in there to satisfy the kook alarmists but the bottom line was the funneling of massive taxpayer dollars into these corporate pockets.

Now we hear of new legislation that would limit freedom and require its citizens to put ONLY factory replacement parts on their cars. Again, putting money back into the parts of these American Auto Makers or the American based foreign suppliers and completely shutting out the after market industry.

Sounds like more lobbying to me. More Corporate Interests getting their pockets lines with taxpayer dollars as we (the stupid can't think for ourselves need government to arrange everything for us so we can get anything done) people get hosed by out of control government.

Every day this week, every car in Oregon should have a cruise by the State capital and sit with their cars running at just over 2500 rpms for 2 minutes each. The sounds would be amazing and the environmental impact is equivalent to having your car tested at the local Department of Environmental Quality.
